Saving for business emergencies
A small, regular set-aside keeps a sick week or a broken freezer from closing the shop.
Emergencies are normal
Stock can spoil, a phone can be stolen, a child can need clinic fees. If every extra franc is spent, the next shock comes out of tomorrow’s goods.
Save from sales, not from leftovers
Pick a tiny rule you can keep: 200–500 XAF a day, or 2% of each day’s sales, into a separate wallet you do not use for stock. Leftovers at month-end rarely appear.
Protect the pot
Give the emergency wallet a name and a purpose. Do not dip into it for ordinary restocking. If you must, write it as a loan from savings to the business and repay it.
Aim for a few slow weeks of cover
A useful target is enough to restock once or pay stall fees for two to four quiet weeks. You can grow it slowly. Fluide Lite daily records make it obvious whether you are actually setting money aside.
